Install OverDrive Media Console App on Your Nook Tablet™, Nook Color™ or Nook®HD
Before starting, double-check your Barnes and Noble account and confirm you have an active credit card on file. Please note the app is completely free, however, as with most other tablet services, BN requires a credit card on file for app downloads. You will not be charged for downloading the OverDrive Media Console app.
- Connect your device to WiFi
- Open the Quick Nav Bar
- Tap Apps icon
- Tap Discover More Nook Apps
- Search for OverDrive Media Console
- Tap Search
- Tap the Free button
- Tap the Confirm button
- At this time, your app will download and install on your Nook Color or Nook Tablet. Once completed, tap the Open button.
- If you receive any notifications from OverDrive, you may tap the Close button.
- In the status bar, you should see several small icons. Please look for the Settings icon (may change based on device but should look like a circle with three lines in the middle).
- Tap App Settings
- You cannot authorize your device without an Adobe ID.
- If you already have an Adobe ID on your home computer, you would use the same login credentials here. Please remember that your Adobe ID must match the email address you used to register your Nook.
- Enter Adobe ID
- Enter Password
- Tap Authorize button
- If you do not have an Adobe ID, tap Get a Free Adobe ID.
- Follow the instructions to sign up for an Adobe ID.
To prevent authorization errors, we recommend using the same email address for registering your device and setting up your Adobe ID. Example, If you registered your Barnes & Noble Nook with the email address nook@address.com, your Adobe ID should be: nook@address.com.
- Open the Quick Nav Bar
- Tap Apps
- Tap OverDrive Media Console app
- Enter the email address and password for your Adobe account.
- Tap Authorize button
- Once your App is authorized with your Adobe ID tap the Settings icon from the Status Bar.
- Tap the Get Books icon
- Tap Add a Library
- Type your zip code
- Tap Search button
- Tap your library
- Tap Metropolitan Library System
- You will then be redirected to the eMedia mobile website.
From there, you can explore our eMedia collection directly on your NookColor or NookTablet and download Adobe ePub eBooks, Open ePub eBooks and MP3 audiobooks. When you find an available title you wish to download, complete the following:
Download Digital Books to the OverDrive Media Console
- Search and locate a title that is Available Now
- Tap Borrow
- Tap Go to Bookshelf
- Login with your library card number and the first four letters of your last name
- Tap Login
- Choose download format and Confirm check out
- Tap the Download button
- If your title does not show up on the next screen, no worries! Just tap My eAccount > My eBookshelf.
- The OverDrive Media Console app will automatically start and begin downloading your digital book.
- Tap on the digital book to start reading or listening!
Install OverDrive Media Console App on Your Kindle Fire

- Tap Store button
- Search for OverDrive Media Console
- Tap Search button from keyboard
- Tap the Free button
- Tap the Get App button
- At this time, your app will download and install on your Kindle Fire. Once completed, tap the Open button.
