Have you heard about the nerds? Everybody knows that the nerd is the word.
That’s not exactly how the 1960s garage band The Trashmen sang it in their hit song “Surfin’ Bird,” but that’s the idea behind the Metropolitan Library System’s annual summer rock concert on Friday, July 5, at the Southern Oaks Library, 6900 S. Walker, starting at 6:30 p.m.
“In the past,” said MLS Young Adult Services Coordinator Emily Williams, “we’ve presented a Wizard Rock show, but this year we’re adding to it. We’ve got a Wizard and Nerd Rock Show with a lineup of awesome nerd rock You Tube all-stars singing about everyone’s favorite boy wizard, and other geeky stuff.”
Performers include Tonks and the Aurors, Justin Finch-Fletchley and the Sugar Quills, and Kirstyn Hippe. The concert is free for teens and adults.
